Expanding an enterprise design system

Uptake is an industrial AI platform that helps enterprise organizations monitor asset health, predict equipment failures, and optimize large-scale operations through complex, data-rich workflows. As a Senior Visual Designer, I contributed to both the enterprise design system and the platform experience—expanding reusable components, improving documentation, and designing scalable UX patterns that brought greater consistency to enterprise software.

The Challenge
Uptake's platform supported enterprise customers managing fleets of industrial equipment through sophisticated operational workflows and large volumes of data. As the platform evolved, new capabilities needed to integrate seamlessly into an established design language while maintaining consistency across increasingly complex experiences.

The Solution
Rather than approaching each feature independently, I focused on scalable solutions that could support the platform over time. By expanding reusable components, documenting shared standards, and applying systems thinking across product experiences, I helped strengthen both the design system and the enterprise platform it supported.

Reusable Components & Patterns

As the platform expanded, the design system needed to support increasingly diverse enterprise workflows. I contributed new reusable components, interaction patterns, and visual standards that allowed teams to solve complex product needs while maintaining a consistent user experience across the platform.

Flexible Components
Designed configurable components that adapted to a wide range of enterprise use cases without creating one-off solutions. Building flexibility into the system reduced duplication while making new product experiences faster to design and easier to maintain. Data Visualization
Enterprise users depended on complex operational data to monitor equipment health, identify trends, and make informed decisions. I designed reusable visualization patterns—including charts, legends, status indicators, and supporting interface elements—that improved readability while creating a consistent analytical experience across the platform. Designing beyond the component

Scalable design systems rely on more than reusable UI—they also require clear guidance that helps teams use those components consistently. I contributed documentation that established shared standards for designers and engineers, defining component behavior, recommended use cases, and implementation guidance that made the system easier to adopt, easier to maintain, and more consistent across multiple product teams. Designing enterprise workflows

Alongside the design system, I partnered with product and engineering teams to improve complex enterprise workflows across the platform. My work focused on creating scalable navigation, organizing data-heavy experiences, and applying consistent UX patterns that balanced usability with the needs of sophisticated enterprise software. outcomes and impact

Lasting impact

expanded a mature design system

Contributed reusable components, documentation, and interaction patterns that strengthened an established enterprise design system and supported continued platform growth.
improved platform consistency

Applied shared UX standards across multiple product areas, creating a more cohesive experience for enterprise users navigating complex operational workflows.
strengthened collaboration

Worked closely with cross-functional teams to establish scalable solutions that balanced usability, engineering constraints, and long-term maintainability.
built a foundation
for future leadership

Working within a mature enterprise platform strengthened my systems thinking and reinforced how reusable patterns, documentation, and collaboration enable teams to build complex software more consistently. These experiences became the foundation for the design systems leadership work I later drove at GoodRx.
